The VPN 1400/2 is a firewall with an IPSec VPN server, which allows up to 50 VPN tunnels (VPN Failover), and a router with 2 WAN ports that combines high bandwidth sharing solutions, network security, and load balance and redundancy. It's perfectly suited for the needs of medium and small businesses. It provides network management features that are essential for an efficient and safe security policy and offers VPN failover capability. All at a price you can afford!
Establish secure connections between remote locations
The VPN 1400/2 allows you to establish up to 50 simultaneous VPN (Virtual Private Network) tunnels with various encryption methods (DES, 3DES, AES). You can use your current broadband Internet connection to securely connect offices, suppliers, and even your office with your home. To establish these connections you only need a VPN device on the other side or you can use the HotBrick Windows IPSec VPN Client.
A VPN tunnel allows you to access remote servers and services such as E-mail and applications with total security. VPN auto failover is supported. This allows a VPN connection to be re-established when one of the two WAN connections drops, provided the remote unit supports the failover feature.
Integrated firewall and network solution in one device
The VPN 1400/2 features include packet inspection, IPSec VPN, NAT, intruder detection, URL filter, control and blocking access features, and distinct user policies (7 different user groups). Besides providing a complete firewall, the VPN 1400/2 supports most of the popular high bandwidth connections including cable, DSL, static and dynamic IP and PPPoE. It is a 14 port switch DHCP server/client that allows safe Internet connection sharing without the need of extra switches or hubs.
Economy, speed and stability
The VPN 1400/2 has 2 (redundant) WAN ports that offer a powerful load balance function. It allows you to trade a high cost Internet connection for two high bandwidth connections (more economical). With both connections working at the same time, the VPN 1400/2 will take advantage of the two connection speeds simultaneously with load balancing. It can offer connection failover so that every time a connection fails, the VPN 1400/2 will use the other connection automatically. It is an ideal product for those who need QoS (Quality of Service) to establish priority traffic and bandwidth for critical applications.
The VPN 1400/2 allows the creation of up to 50 IPSec VPN tunnels with (VPN Failover). A VPN tunnel is an encryption mechanism that provides a safe connection from your LAN through the Internet. You can safely connect your enterprise to your subsidiaries, shops, partners or even your house. The VPN auto-failover capability allows a tunnel to be re-established when the current WAN drops by switching the tunnel to the back-up WAN; this feature will be supported between 2 HotBrick compatible products such as the following: 2 VPN 1400/2s or 2 VPN 800/2s, or between 2 HotBrick LB2 VPNs, or between a VPN 800/2 or VPN 1400/2 and an LB2 VPN.
The VPN 1400/2 uses 2 high performance WAN ports. Those 2 WAN ports allow: Redundancy and automatic failover on both high bandwidth connections. QoS (Quality of Service), the ability to assign priority to Internet or local traffic. Load Balancing shares the Internet traffic between both Broadband connections.
The VPN 1400/2 is a 14 LAN 10/100 Mbps ports switch for you to share your cable/DSL connection with up to 253 users, class C subnet, on your LAN (using additional switches and/or hubs).
For the protection of your business or home network, the VPN 1400/2 comes with a high performance firewall with SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection), which detects and blocks DoS (Denial of Service) and other malicious attacks.
The NAT (Network Address Translation) feature performs the translation of network addresses and ports, ensuring the privacy of your internal network IPs and requiring only one Internet IP for your entire network.
The VPN 1400/2 allows you to block and control access to undesirable sites, preventing users from improperly using the Internet at work by using white and black lists applicable up to 7 different user groups.
The DMZ (demilitarized zone) feature supports applications that demand bidirectional data transmission over the Internet. It allows a server/PC on a LAN to act as an independent node that communicates with the Internet in both directions, like web servers. Without the DMZ, bidirectional communication with the Internet is blocked by the firewall.
The Virtual Server feature, with port forwarding, allows sharing LAN services such as email and FTP. With this feature, external users can access specific services on your LAN through the WAN IP by only allowing the specific ports used by the services directly to the internal Servers.
The VPN 1400/2 supports multiple Internet IP addresses that can be mapped through the Multi-DMZ or NAT Alias to LAN computers/servers permitting only the services or TCP/IP ports specified for the mappings.
With the VPN 1400/2 you can create up to 7 distinct user groups, with distinct Internet access and policies. For example, you can create a group with full access, one that can only access the Internet and E-mail, and another that doesnt have any Internet access at all.
If you have a dynamic IP address that changes at each connection or some other interval, the DDNS feature frees you from having to change IP addresses manually so that services that depend on specific IP numbers are not interrupted.
The VPN 1400/2 can act as a DHCP server for your network and can manage up to 253 IPs with a class C subnet (CIDR 24).
The VPN 1400/2 allows VPN connections (PPTP, L2TP, IPSec) to pass-through the equipment, and does not interfere with VPN tunnels between internal and external users/servers.
The VPN 1400/2 supports Internet communication applications such as games, VoIP and conferences that are usually hard to use behind a firewall. The support for special applications allows the use of some non-standard applications, where each port used to reply is different from the port used to issue a request.
